Cry Not My Friend
Becca Volpert - Age 19

When you wake up tomorrow and I am no where to be found
When you scream out my name to the emptiness around
When every beat inside your heart is skipping and unsure
Cry not my friend for I am here, inside your love so pure

When the waves that used to touch our feet have gone back out to sea
When everything you once held dear was lost when you lost me
When the sun that once lit up your face is setting far away
Cry not my Friend for time shall pass, but my love for you will stay

When age arrives and children play and pain creeps up on you
When loved ones show you happiness that your life never knew
When all of your expectations are met, no matter what the pain
Cry not my friend, for I am waiting to hold you once again

When beauty in your eyes turn gray and all of the rainbow, white
When strong undying hearts no longer feel an urge to fight
When winter snows become more pain than beauty in your heart
Cry not my friend, for I am here and we will never ever part

Dusty Roads

Dustin was my roommate for 3 years while serving in the 1/17th Infantry. He was my best friend with Jimmy Winn. We were the triad in the platoon, Dustin, Jimmy and Me, we did everything together to the point of the platoon leader saying it wasn't fair during competitions because we were as one. It saddens me Dusty that you had to go to soon, we still had some living to do. Love you brother, Jimmy if you find this email me at stanley_dickerson@yahoo.com.

Dustin, Murph to all the guys in the platoon; was the one guy who no matter how screwed up things got, could always make us laugh. I'm sure alot of the guys are thinking about this right now. Pretty much we're in shock. Alot of the guys would like to contact the family, we know it's late but Murphy meant alot to all of us.

As far as my tribute to my friend, there isn't a week gone by in the last twelve years that I haven't though about him and wondered how he was doing. Every once in a while I'd hear something and wish that I could talk to my friend. I met Dustin as a young man, who had so much life and vigor, and will always remember him that way. I wish that we had not drifted, I wish that I could have been there for my friend in the end.

Love you Murph, thanks for keeping me young.
